What is Gdakon?
Gdakon is a convention dedicated to fans of fantasy art and creative expression. It takes place in Gdańsk near the end of the first quarter of the year (typically in late February). Originally it launched as a casual meeting of a few fantasy enthusiasts in 2010 (known as edition "0"), it has grown into a fully-fledged convention since 2011.
Gdakon aims to become one of the most important events of it's kind in Poland, and, on a smaller scale, across Eastern Europe, while remaining open and welcoming to international attendees.
Interest in the event has been steadily rising, with a growing number of participants each year. Every edition offers a wide range of creative workshops, discussion panels, and all kinds of engaging activities that let attendees explore and develop their passions.
Cogitavi Foundation
Due to Gdakon's rapidly growing popularity (this year we saw nearly a 30% increase in sign-ups compared to previous edition), the event's main organizer — Paweł Butyliński — teamed up with Maciej Frąckowiak to establish the Cogitavi Foundation. It's mission is to support and promote creative expression in Poland.
So far, the foundation has partnered with similar conventions in Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine, and previously also in Russia, allowing for greater experience sharing and collaboration across borders.
Admission to the convention site
Out of the respect attendee privacy, media passes are currently not available. Those seeking permission to attend must first contact the main organizer, Paweł Butyliński, via e-mail at: pawel.butylinski@gdakon
Please note that unannounced arrivals may be asked to leave the premises.
